I use my Titronics on my PC in the office. Will I run into a problem if I try to use it at an expo on my laptop?

Yes the laptop will most certainly work.
If you are using XP you probably have no worries, if you are using Vista or 7, then read what's in parenthesis

"If you are using the Tytron software the only version functioning on Vista and 7 are 1.6.X.13 (X is the first number in the serial number C4XXX, C5XXXX, etc.), if you are using ChiroCET the version should be 2.2.1.1 or higher, Titronics Suite will not work."

Step 2, the driver, this can get tricky because of operating systems.

"if using XP" if you purchased the usb adapter then the driver came with it.
"if using XP" if you received the usb adapter from us and it is dark grey the following link is the driver. www.bafo.com/download/Driver/PC/BF-810%2...er_v1210_windows.rar
"if using XP" if you received the usb adapter form us and it is cream colored go to www.radioshack.com in the search field type in 2600183, and a downloads icon should appear, this is the driver.
"if using XP" if you have a C-5000 the driver is on your install disk.

"if using Vista or 7" if you purchased the usb adapter then the driver came with it.
"if using Vista or 7" if you received the usb adapter from us and it is dark grey the following link is the driver. www.bafo.com/download/Driver/PC/BF-810%2...er_v1210_windows.rar
"if using Vista or 7" if you received the usb adapter from us and it is cream colored, you must purchase another usb adapter.
"if using Vista or 7" if you have a C-5000 the driver is on your isntall disk

If purchasing a new usb adapter you need a 9-pin serial to USB adapter rs-232 interface. Please do not purchase them from Radio Shack, or Best Buy, the brands we suggest are Prolific, Bafo, or Manhattan, they are all manufactured by Prolific, but they get relabeled depending on the part of the world they are in, odds are the $25 generic one at the local computer store is a prolific.

Last but not least port settings and calibration settings.
What everyone needs to know about this part is every scanner has unique calibration numbers which make is function as accurately as they do. These numbers are stored internally in C-5000 and C-6000 units, but in C-3000 and C-4000 units they are on the original install CD's.

C-5000 and C-6000 units
If using the Tytron software open the installation cd and double click the file labelled with the scanner's serial number
If using ChiroCET or Titronics Suite, go to Tools>Options>Activation Settings>Auto Search and double click the serial number when it appears...not done yet go to Tools>Options>Device Settings>Add Device>Auto Search>Double click the appropriate serial number>load settings>Pull the trigger of the scanner>Save Device>Apply Close>
C-3000 and C-4000 units
If using the Tytron software open the cd and there should be a file labelled identical to your serial number, then double click it and you're done. If using ChiroCET or Titronics Suite, go to Tools>Options>Activation Settings>Auto Search and double click the serial number when it appears...not done yet, go to Tools>Options>Device Settings>Add Device>Auto Search>Double click the appropriate serial number>load settings>detect device>follow the instructions>save device>apply>close.

If this does not help just call Titronics and press "2" for technical support.

If hope this helps,
Leo
