We cannot express the importance of saving your valuable database of scans. Computers can malfunction, and if they take down your hard drive without a backup, you could loose the scans. Please read the following directions and backup your data frequently!

Back-up

1.)At the end of the day, click on the Backup button in the lower right corner of the home screen. You will be presented a screen for you to select where the data will be going for storage.

2.)Place a 3½-inch floppy disk in your floppy drive. Using your mouse, go to the center top field and click on the right arrow down button. Choose the 3½ floppy drive and release the button.

3.)Click on the SAVE button to begin the backup. Depending on your computer’s individual set-up, you may be left with a black central DOS screen once the backup function is complete. To exit this screen, click on the X box in the far upper right of the central black screen. Once the database copy is done remove the floppy disk and label it accordingly.

4.) Completing this process on a daily basis will ensure that you have the most up to date backup.

Alternate Back-up Instructions

After you have constructed a large database of scans you may find it more convenient to backup to network drives, CD-Rom, tape drive, or other external backup media. Please check the documentation for your particular backup device for instructions on use. When using an alternative backup media you will need to backup the “DB” folder. This folder is typically located on your computers Hard Drive at C:\C3000\DB.

Database Restoration

If you computer has malfunctioned in some way and in the process damaged your patient database you need to start here. Of course, this shouldn’t worry you because you have backed up your C-3000 database everyday or very frequently. Well you’re in luck; with your backup in hand you will be able to restore your lost or damaged database by following the instructions below.

1.) First place the disk that contains your C-3000 backup in its drive.

2.)From the Windows desktop, click on the START button and move to click on the RUN function. Type the following line in the white field: A:\RESTORE.BAT. If your backup drive has a different letter designation, simply substitute it for [A].

3.) Once you have typed in the drive and restore line, click on the OK button to begin the restoration of the database. When this is completed, please remove the backup disk from the drive and re-use it once again as your backup disk.

4.) From the START button select “Shut Down”, and then select “Restart the computer in MS-DOS Mode”. When the DOS prompt comes up, type A: (you now see C:\>A:) and press the ENTER key. Then at the A prompt (you see A:\>) type the word RESTORE and press the ENTER key. The restore process will continue and replace your damaged database with the backup copy. When the software says that the directories already exist, that is OK. When it asks if you want to overwrite the old files answer A to overwrite all.
